The Best Time for Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel Trek

Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel Trek can be completed any time of the the year. Still, the best time for this 4-day trip is the Autumn and Spring months.

Nepal Experiences 4 seasons: spring (March-May), autumn (September-November), Summer/ Monsoon (June- August), and winter (December- February).

Generally, the Spring and Autumn seasons are considered the best times for hiking in Nepal, including the famous Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel walk.  This can best be described as a period when the weather is calm, with views that make you hold your breath.

However, Avoid going on hikes between June and September, which are monsoons, as leeches, slippers, and rains shall ruin it for you.

The air is fresh at the best time (autumn) of the year for Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel Trek. And the leaves on the trees change to autumnal shades of orange, yellow, and crimson. This painting brings together the colors in an exquisite picture of tapestries. In the spring, the hills turn into colorful meadows with various flowers. It leads to a riot of colors spreading like a carpet. In addition, winter will be friendly because you will have a winter sun to accompany you while hiking.

Nevertheless, it rains excessively in June and July; as a result, the trail becomes sloppy. This may discourage other visitors from doing the same, making the hike unfit for everyone.

With our professional companion on the Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel Trek, you’ll treasure the memories associated with this trip, which will remain etched in your heart for good to come.

Therefore, you must wear appropriate clothing to guard against all kinds of weather in the country. This may include pack layers, rain jackets, hats, gloves, and strong hiking boots. In the case of muddy trails, an individual may require trekking poles.

Chisapani and Nagarkot Dhulikhel is a picturesque retreat from Kathmandu’s chaos anywhere, anytime. Nonetheless, autumn and spring are excellent alternatives to this mountain retreat if you want better weather, fewer tourists, and lower costs. Relish the crisp air, the sight of the rolling hills, and the Himalayan landscape, and enjoy a cup of tea route.

Altitude Sickness Considerations

The Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel trek only reaches up to 7545 feet/ 2300 meters high in Chisapani and an elevation of 2165m (7,100ft in )Nagarkot. Give yourself time to adjust to the altitudes, and you will be okay. Here are some tips to help prevent altitude sickness:

  1. Ascend slowly. This helps your body acclimate slowly to the rising altitudes. Take it easy with each step forward; make sure to breathe.
  2. Drink plenty of water. Your body will be able to acclimate better by staying fully hydrated. Strive for about 3-4 liters over a day. Also, avoid alcohol and caffeine.
  3. Eat light, high-carbohydrate meals. Such foods include rice, potatoes, or bread. Feed yourself with the energy that you need for the climb ahead.
  4. Get enough rest. This extra rest will help with acclimatization. If possible, try to sleep in a lower position or never at the highest point.
  5. Be aware of acute mountain sickness symptoms such as headaches, nausea, and shortness of breath. Stop if any symptoms appear and rest down from climbing. You must come down immediately if there are more severe signs, such as confusion or trouble walking.
  6.  Bring medication on your Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel Trek. Diamox can help prevent AMS. Remember your doctor's advice for a prescription before the Trek. Ibuprofen can provide symptomatic relief while at altitude if only mild symptoms are present.
  7. Trek with a guide. A good guide will assist in diagnosing whether one is suffering from AMS and arrange for urgent assistance when necessary.

Through these ideas, you can do the Chisapani, Nagarkot, and Dhulikhel excursion safely while appreciating the amazing mountain sights. Climb slowly with your body's pace, and drink plenty of water and food while resting enough. Be alert in case you notice any problem caused by insufficient oxygen.

Client Reviews

  • terrace fields were unexpected

The four-day Chisapani-Nagarkot-Dhulikhel trekking with Mountain Rock Treks was beyond our imagination, and this was indeed great. Considering our short stay in Kathmandu, Deepak's suggestion for such a leisure was wise. Initially, I was worried about my partner's inadequate hiking experience, and our guide, Dawa, skillfully adjusted the trip considering our physical limitations, resulting in a very pleasant excursion.

The climb to Chisapani through Sundarijal was extremely rewarding, providing stunning views of small villages, fields, and valleys. Dawa guiding us along the slightly steep trail made it manageable.

Could not escape the awe-inspiring sunrise from the Chisapani tea house when my neighbouring mountains were almost touching me. The terrace fields were unexpected, and the path was pleasantly non-steep in the Nagarkot hike of the second day.

Nevertheless, Deepak and Dawa's professionalism and kindness greatly relieved this first visit to Nepal. This desire for longer hikes is already implanted in me, and I recommend this Chisapani – Nagarkot – Bhaktapur itinerary for whoever wants a painless immersion in original Nepal without reservation.

This trek was unforgettable because it blended cultural interactions and natural beauty. Therefore, this would be a great hike for any family looking to take a small but rewarding tour of Kathmandu in just one day. In addition, the trek’s organisation and scenic beauty gave us innumerable pleasant recollections about trekking for a memorable experience.
