The site on Annapurna Region is a top trending trek of Nepal. It offers peaceful, unexplored, beautiful parts of Annapurna region. This route provides wonderful views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri ranges, verdant jungle, glaring rivers, streams, wildlife, local villages, landscapes, Mardi Himal Base Camp which is the main attraction. Mardi Himal Trek is one of the trekking around this region.
Mardi Himal Trek goes along twisted narrow path, green woods, streams, villages, climb up into rhododendron forest at the height around 3,300m (10826.77ft). Many lodges, restaurants, tea shops are constructed for travelers. Total package cost depends on tour, accommodation, and transportation. A most favorable season is autumn season in-between mid-September-October-November, that period the weather is clear which provides the remarkable view of snow-capped mountains.
Mardi Himal Trek Itinerary will be 7 to 8 days depending on the requirements. It begins from Kathmandu or Pokhara. If you start from Kathmandu, you take flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and drive to Kande and start the trekking but if you start from Pokhara, you drive to Kande from your hotel in Pokhara which is 1 hour drive. The pass is quiet, relaxing then goes steeper up to Australian Camp (2060m) and then slightly downhill to Pothana (1950m), climbing up to Deurali (2100m) for Overnight. The next morning, you head to Forest Camp carrying pack lunch and walk through dense Rhododendron forest which makes surrounding colorful and reached Forest Camp to stay a night there. In the morning, you walk from Forest Camp to Low Camp (2970m) which is 4 hours walk and stay overnight at Low Camp enjoying the view of Mt. Machhapuchhre(Fishtail).
The next day, hiking through trees, Chhomrong Village, Ghandruk Village and reaching the High Camp (3550m) and rest there for a night. The following day, hike from High Camp to Mardi Base Camp (4500m) carrying packed lunch and enjoying with a magnificent view of Mardi Himal, Mt. Annapurna and return back to the same place for Night Stay. After having breakfast, you can head to Siding (1700m) and drive back to Pokhara (830m). Day 01:Arrival to Kathmandu Nepal
Day 02:Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus, 6-7 hour
Day 03:Drive to Kade from Pokhara and then trek to Deurali 2100m
Day 04:Deurali to Forest Camp, 2600m
Day 05:Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3212m) via Low Camp (2970m)
Day 06:Badal Danda to High Camp, 3550m
Day 07:Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to Low Camp for over night
Day 08:Low Camp to Sidhing Village – drive back to Pokhara
Day 09:Pokhara to Kathmandu
Day 01Arrival to Kathmandu NepalMountain Rock Airport Representative will meet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport. A drop to the Hotel by private tourist vehicle is arranged. You can either take a rest or meet us at our office and know the detail arrangement of the Trek. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus, 6-7 hourDrive to Pokhara (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) by tourist bus (at 7:00 AM) in the morning from a tourist bus station (sorakhutte) and then overnight at the Hotel in Pokhara.
Day 03Drive to Kade from Pokhara and then trek to Deurali 2100mYou drive to the trailhead, the route from Kande is a good one and very few trekkers choose to start the trek from here. The trail is good, first slowly up, then a bit steeper to Australian Camp (2060m – About one hour), then after an early lunch slightly downhill to Pothana (1950m) and the ACAP / TIMS checkpoint, then up again to Deurali (2100m). And then overnight at Lodge.
Day 04Deurali to Forest Camp, 2600mThere is a right turn in Deurali signposted “Forest Camp” the trail is through jungle, at first up then undulating on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over half way where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and then back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp (2600m)after about 4 hour trekking. There are now 3 lodges in Forrest Camp. Simple but clean so again a good choice.
Day 05Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3212m) via Low Camp (2970m)The trail is initially quite steep leaving Forest Camp but soon gets less steep as you again get upon the ridge. From Forest Camp to Low Camp is only a short day trekking through more jungle with occasional glimpses of Annapurna South before getting into Low Camp (2970m) after around 3 hours. Trek continues to Badal Danda from where you could excellent panoramic views of snow Himalaya. Although there are 2 lodges in Badal Danda, the lodges are very simple.
Day 06Badal Danda to High Camp, 3550mThe trail leaves Low Camp again in jungle, but the trees soon start to get smaller and after about one hours trekking broke out of the jungle and onto the open ridge with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to my left. The trail then undulates along the ridge and after about 3 hours trekking we arrived at High Camp (3550m).and then overnight at Lodge.
Day 07Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to Low Camp for over nightIt is possible to continue trekking along the ridge for another 4 to 5 hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to High Camp in around 4 hours – This makes a long day but there is also a viewpoint about half way. And then overnight at Lodge.
Day 08Low Camp to Sidhing Village – drive back to PokharaFrom Low Camp hike to Sidhing Village via Forest Camp then drive back to Pokhara. Trek about 6 to 7 hours then drive about 2 hours. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 09Pokhara to KathmanduDrive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) by tourist bus at 7:30 am. And stay overnight at the Hotel in Kathmandu
